The Story
Early in the year of 1960, several boaters at the White Point Marina conceived the idea of forming a yacht club. Using the bylaws of the New York Yacht Club as a guide, Mr. and Mrs. George O. Davis and Mr. and Mrs. William D. Selden set to work drawing up bylaws of the White Point Yacht Club. At the completion of this work, an organizational meeting was held on May 15, 1960, in Warsaw, Virginia. Five Charter Members were present. It was agreed the name of the organization would be the White Point Yacht Club and an original design submitted by Mrs. William D. Selden was selected to be the official flag of the organization. The constitution and bylaws were approved as presented. Mr. James N. Turner was elected to serve as our first Commodore for the year 1960-61.
